Carly Foxx is a London based DJ, electronic music producer and founder of Love Story Recordings. Her steady stream of dynamic mixtapes reflect a penchant for the 90’s and incorporate the sounds of Detroit, house, acid and disco. Carly’s wide range of influences can be heard throughout her discography, spanning house, electronica & Balearic. Consistently deep, often groovy and, at times, underpinned by emotive soundscapes, her music is instantly recognisable through the use of her own signature vocal.

Carly’s debut release ‘Let Me Be Yours‘ on UK label, Danse Club, included a main room remix from Get Physical’s DJ T and proceeded further releases with Demuir (DJ Sneak / Cassy) and her EP Under My Skin including a remix from Luca Cazal (Hot Natured / Crosstown Rebels) on Ibiza’s Vitalik Recordings amongst others.

In 2017 Carly Foxx launched her own imprint, Love Story Recordings. Alongside her own EP’s, Love Thing and Call My Name, Love Story’s eclectic catalogue includes releases from up & coming artists including The Svens (Greco Roman) & Ninasonik (Discwoman) with remix support from more established talent such as Manik, Pezzner and Terrence Parker & La Fraicheur. With support from tastemakers including XLR8R, Deep House London & Dancing Astronaut, 2018 is shaping up to be a good year, with debuts at fabric, Kala Festival and Cream Ibiza, her Body Ache EP including remix from one of Dance Mania’s founding member’s, Parris Mitchell, and The Dancefloor EP out later in the year on Fred P‘s vinyl label, Private Society.

With a multitude of exciting releases and gigs already planned for this year, Carly Foxx is really beginning to make a name for herself on the circuit. We’re excited to continue following her journey and as an introduction to those who are yet to have the pleasure, she’s kindly selected Tracks Of The Day delving into four tracks that have influenced her progression. Catch her at her debut fabric event on 29th June alongside Matthias Tanzmann and a host of others via the events link to the right.

“I decided to select some slightly genre-bending electronic songs that fuse different styles, sounds and influences, which might sit slightly outside the box of your regular club or dance track. Linear sounds kill my soul. The world is a colourful place and I love it when music reflects that!”

“I’m kind of obsessed with Los Hermanos aka Gerrard Mitchell. If you listen to my radio shows on Bloop, I sometimes play three or four Los Hermanos tracks per show. This track blows my mind! When I listen to it, I honestly get such a high! I love the fusion of Latin rhythms with those classic Detroit stabs and bouncy Chicago keys. I only wish I could salsa…”

“Who doesn’t love Gou?! This track is so vibey and hypnotic and one that I think will remain timeless for many years to come. What is particularly special about this song, is that for a fairly ‘underground’ electronic track, it has such crossover appeal, whilst still remaining completely and effortlessly cool. You could play this track in a regular bar or a restaurant, OR at 5 am in Panorama bar, and wherever you played it, it would be the perfect soundtrack. You could play this song to grandma and she wouldn’t be scared off. I think its very difficult to make electronic music with a relatively wide appeal and still staying cool. Peggy’s fusion of Asian sounds and Korean vocals with acidic basslines and somewhat African inspired percussion is truly original and totally inimitable and that’s what makes her music special for me.”

“I love Marie Davidson’s music. I think you can hear in her music that she draws on many genres, and in turn makes music that falls into many genres, but all of which has that undeniable Marie Davidson sonic stamp. It’s synth music I guess with touches of post-punk, new wave, acid house, EBM, italo…all of it! This track is EPIC. The increase in tempo in the break is amazing and creates such an intensity.”

Ghetto Shout Out! feat. Waxmaster

“I’ve played this record consistently since I started DJing. It’s just so fun, and that’s what clubbing is about. I think dance music can become quite serious or moody at times, so I love throwing this into the middle of a set to mix it up a bit and keep everyone on their toes. The mood really shifts with this song and with the heavy funk and hip-hop influences, the dancefloor suddenly gets so much sexier.”
