Part of the All Ears takeover

Kickstarting his career with a number of releases in 2012, Nathan Melja has continued to build momentum through further releases on prestigious labels and his DJ sets. Originally from Paris, his productions combine a wide range of influences for a subtle result of club music between house and techno.

2014 saw the release of ‘Steady Mobbin’ on the magnificent NYC label Mister Saturday Night. Following this, a string of releases on Black Opal and NinjaTune’s singles label Technicolour saw him join the likes of Hieroglyphic Being, Legowelt and Florian Kupfer. These releases over the past few years have continued to show his talent as a producer, and enabled him to develop his DJing profile.

Growing as a selector over the past few years, Nathan Melja’s weekends have been littered with gigs in France, Morocco and America. These gigs, as this takeover aims to shed light on, can seriously damage your hearing if you don’t protect your ears. Nathan has experienced ringing sensations in his ears many a time, and he’s committed to spreading this message to ensure others protect theirs. Closing out the All Ears Tracks Of The Day takeover, he does this by selecting music that soothes his ears after late nights behind the decks. “This is the kind of music that I want to hear when I’m lying on the bed, working on some stuff or even before sleep. Amazing rock/folk music from the seventies by Sensations Fix. Love that album and can’t stop listening to it 4 years later. Perfect when your ears are burning after a four hour set at one of the best clubs in paris EVER : le péripate.”

“Really good example of club music that sounds good in the most simple way. Analog music for the machine lovers, it’s an ambient techno track that I like to listen to even at home. I find my pleasure in the dreamy textures of synth pads and drums that really fit together. Again, the mix is on point and frequencies are perfect for my ears.”

“Huerco S is one of my favourite artists when it comes to contemporary electronic music. He makes really good dance music records and even better ambient ones. His first album was a game changer for me because I’ve never heard any ambient music made like this before. His last album is so good, really relaxing for the ears, maybe thanks to the relaxing frequencies he takes us and a really good balance in the mix. TIP!”

“New record from Klaus, ambient/ field bizarre music that really strikes me! I realised, with time, that natural sounds like field recording, tape hiss, are good to my ears. It’s a long trip pressed on a record.”
