Part of the Motorik! takeover

Next up on our Motorik label takeover, we have the sonic explorers For Life. The aussie duo hooked up to share their love of lush melodies, lighter shades of techno and early progressive. Although there’s an ode to the past in their productions, they are unmistakably forward thinking. Their music rides the crest between dancefloor and dreamscape, giving it the versatility to be consumed anywhere.

‘’For Life is the realisation of a voyage through the conscious mind and the outer limits of party, the 6am drive back home, the 7am quest for an afterparty, the 3pm sensation of staring into the eyes of your lover and realising you’ve come too far to give up on celebrating life. For Life is a joyous, vibrant, immersive celebration of life.’’

Their debut on the imprint came earlier this year with the Blues Journey EP, exploring chuggy techno and UK bass sounds. With much more to come from these up’n’comers, they’ve chosen four warehouse tracks for this instalment of TOTD.

“Never fails. The kick drum in this song gives it enough energy to get people moving. Its a darker track which gives it a great vibe for a dark late night warehouse vibe. Also the computer like vocal sounds great and creepy thought a big room. Play it every set and will keep doing so.”

“When I think warehouse I think rave. This is the kind of music I remember when I went to my first rave at 16. The epicenes of big synth/chord line sounds great in a big room and it needs that huge space to breathe. Classic rave line that has been sampled a bunch of times, the ”1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, B”

“Jimmy Edgar music is always made up of raw drum and synth sounds that sound like they come straight out of the analogue era. The simplicity and industrial sounds fit in with the often pretty bare stage that is a warehouse party. Another great simple vocal that sounds so vibey in a big room.”

“Xavier’s tracks always sounds body mint. From a production/engineering perspective he just kills it. Again the use off a lot of great classic drum machines and synths remind me of the sounds of techno but the tracks seem to have just a little more noise than your average warehouse banger.”
