TOTD // 04/08 // Elliot Adamson

Published: August 4, 2017, words by Lydia Harris

Elliot Adamson is a producer and DJ from the North East with a big future ahead of him. His house and techno productions have a catchy big room feeling and a dirty underground edge. Hints of grinding electro and pumping 4/4 beats, Elliot has a confidence way beyond his 21 years.

He first emerged in 2013 with a splattering of self-promoted remixes, ranging from The Streets’ ‘Weak become Heroes’ to Chic’s disco classic ‘Everybody Dance’. His DIY approach to promotion soon got him noticed and the chunky Adamson sound made its way into clubs and mixes from London to Ibiza and back. Releases on 50 Weapons, Hot Creations and Eats Everything’s Edible Records, Elliot’s bold production style crosses easily between prime time house sets and grimy techno parties.

His latest Je Suis EP is out now on Man Power‘s Me Me Me and is gathering momentum in the scene. The three tracker showcases a darker, weirder, more sophisticated sound than earlier productions, with those unmissable hooks that make him one of the most exciting names in house music today. An Elliot Adamson DJ set is not one to sit back and relax to. No stranger to an electro synth or acid wobble, he is a tour du force of weighty club sounds. Catch him at upcoming parties at DC-10, fabric, The Warehouse Project, and an increasing number of iconic venues across Europe.

His tune selections today are a juicy taste of rave culture. From crispy breaks and hardcore to blowout 80s pop, Elliot Adamson’s Tracks Of The Day emulate the same ethos as his own music – proper club bangers that don’t take themselves too seriously.

“I LOVE breaksy rave records that can still exist within the context of a house/techno set and I think my love for the sound stems from this record – unreal.”

“I keep this in the fridge cause it’s a stone cold classic. One of those records that is high energy but manages to be calming at the same time – riddle me that.”

“A Ricardo selection. London to me is a place where creative capital reigns and you can do whatever you want if you have the guts – playing this in room 1 at 1am was one of those recurrences.”

“I used to live in London for university about two years ago although I never actually went – I’m moving back this week actually! I heard this at my first proper fabric night and it blew my mind!”
