Originally named Nathaniel Pierre Jones, DJ Pierre is a significant name in the American dance production of today’s underground house scene. Based out of Chicago, Pierre was a member of the 1987 acid tracks fame alongside Herbert and Spanky, Phuture, and is often associated with the development of the acid house music. Pierre is also touted as one of the most hard working artists in the music industry and a production wizard responsible for taking acid house to greater heights in the Chicago scene.
With more than two decades of creating highly innovative and groundbreaking underground house music, DJ Pierre is currently at the pinnacle of his career and is regarded as the quintessential dance producer by many in the industry. Starting off with a group called Phuture with his pals Herb J and Spanky in the early 80s, Pierre began experimenting with a bass line synthesiser model Roland TB-303, the sound of which led to the coining of the term acid house. The Trio released their first ever acid house track called Acid Tracks, which essentially featured a distinctive heavy bass, slow-burning sound that carried on for a total of eleven minutes. The track took the underground music scene in Chicago by storm and Pierre never looked back.
After moving out of Chicago in 1990, Pierre released a whole line of chartbuster hits including the Photon Inc. ‘Generate Power’, Aly US ‘Follow me’, and the famous ‘The Horn Song’. For over a decade now, Pierre has established himself as the unconventional king ruling the hard core house mixers and carved a niche for himself within a volatile genre that regularly witnesses a change of players every now and then. With more than 50 house anthems including the ‘Your Old Friend’, ‘The Creator’, and the ‘Give a Little Love’, Pierre has quickly become synonymous with influential and provocative sounds.
Apart from being a regular around France, Italy, Germany, and the UK, Pierre has also become a staple at a number of clubs around the New York City. He currently plans to introduce his own R&B and house music label. Pierre continues to work for several other labels such as the Strictly Rhythm, Twisted America Records and the like. In addition to spearheading the underground house music scene around the world, Pierre, along with his co writer, Lavette, plans to shift his focus towards more vocal tracks.
