Norway is renowned for producing bright, colourful and textured electronic music. In today’s Tracks of the Day we celebrate Norwegian ventures into club land with four records selected by Norweigan rising star Andreas Kleven Rasmussen aka Pandreas.
Having just released his third EP Slam Jam on July 14th, we’ve asked Pandreas to select four tracks from his native Norway created with the dancefloor in mind. With the release of Slam Jam, Pandreas has joined the Huntleys + Palmers crew – in the midst of celebrating their tenth year in action and home to the likes of Auntie Flo and SOPHIE – via their new sub label Belters which launched last year. Already for 2017 Belters have released work from the likes of Innershades and Hi & Saberhägen, and now they focus on offering a platform for this bright young producer, labelled by eponymous Pitchfork as a rising star.
Two previous outputs – 2013’s Ras and 2014’s follow up Rube – embraced house tinged with disco. Now, more time spent immersing himself in the Norwegian club scene has seen Pandreas experimenting with wider ideas. Slam Jam is a four track effort that deftly traverses vibrant house, off kilter techno and joyful disco. Each track makes a stamp of its own ilk whilst retaining a consistent breezy brightness in the lightness of synths and elastic percussion. Drawing comparisons with some of Europe’s finest producers such as Todd Terje and the mighty DJ Koze, with this EP Bergen-based Pandreas has welcomed a stream of premieres on Mixmag, XLR8R, TRAX and Les Yeux Orange.
We’re looking forward to hearing future projects from Pandreas. For now, it’s over to him…
