Hailing from tiny Malta, Jupiter Jax is a computational biologist by day and a DJ/producer by night. That in itself is impressive, and that’s before you even listen to his music.
Debuting on 100% Silk in 2013, Rudi Agius’ music has been a staple of the imprint, spawning two albums since then, both in 2015. His take on house is ethereal and magical with a retro feel and makes you wanna hop on a plane to the Mediterranean and go to a beach party. His more recent releases on Deeptrax Records and Neo Violence have seen him flirt with a darker, more techno-side to his music whilst still retaining that dazzling sheen that we know him for. On top of this, his release on Opal Tapes under the alias Son Of was a confident exploration of more ambient and experimental textures.
However, even though Agius is arguably one of the biggest DJs from Malta, his sets are few and far between, presumably because of the small matter of also holding down a full time job in science sector. But his sets are known to be chock full of the same grooves and emotions that make his productions so special; and he’s used this expertise in his selections today. He’s chosen four tracks that would soundtrack a “sunset in Malta. The one where the claustrophobic heat is starting to finally wear off…”
