Part of the SuncéBeat takeover
SuncéBeat festival, the Croatian lovechild of the UK event Southport Weekender, has been around since 2010 and will be taking place 19-26th July this summer. For a festival that is known for their strong selection of disco and house artists, it comes as no surprise that Jamie 3:26 is featuring on this year’s lineup.
Born in Chicago, Jamie 3:26 has always kept true to his house music roots since he started DJing in the late 1980s. The 3:26 of his name pays homage to the address of The Music Box in Chicago, one of the original house music clubs where the scene emerged and Ron Hardy was at the helm. Despite his long-standing presence in the scene, his major breakthrough didn’t come until 2013 with the release of ‘Hit It n Quit It’, a collaborative track with Cratebug that sampled Loleatta Holloway’s scintillating vocals from ‘Hit and Run’. With the arrival of this storming track on a Chicago House compilation album released on Lumberjacks in Hell, everyone suddenly seemed to know his name and you would constantly hear it played out in DJ sets. He now plays at major clubs, festivals and events all around the world.
Since 2013, he has proved that not only is he an outstanding DJ, but a talented producer. His music is a wonderful mixture of slick house, upbeat disco and smooth funk. In 2016, he set up his own label called 326 Records, on which he released two Basement Edits disco albums in the first year. He also has an upcoming release called Wanna Give It Up, coming out July 17th on Defected Records, which is a remix for Ralphi Rosario featuring Linda Clifford. If you can’t make it to SuncéBeat festival, you can also catch Jamie 3:26 playing at LoveFest in Serbia on August 1st, History of Disco Festival with Greg Wilson in London on August 12th, Adults Only in Lecce, Italy on August 18th and The Djoon Experience in Sicily on Sept 7th.
Ahead of Jamie 3:26’s appearance at SuncéBeat, he joins us in digging for the Dalmatian coast.
