Heartthrob, real name Jesse Siminski, has been in the techno and house scene since 1996, releasing music under the guise of Heartthrob for over a decade. Born in Northern Michigan, Heartthrob was heavily influenced by the progressive house music emanating from different corners of the Midwest. Some of his early influences included Relief and Communique.

Spending the last eight years touring the world and has performed as a DJ in some of hottest clubs in the globe, Heartthrob is part of Richie Hawtin’s M_nus family. He is close friends with Hawtin, Magda, Kevin McHugh, and Troy Pierce. Siminski has also performed under the names Vivianne Projects and Square One, the latter with Pierce. Since leaving his hometown, Jesse has lived in New York, Paris, and Berlin, and he plans on moving wherever his passion takes him.

Heartthrob is known for his captivating use of melody, and he is widely considered to be an experimentalist. His music is considered to be dark but he routinely disagrees with this assessment. He also makes really upbeat and high-energy music as evidenced by his hits ‘Baby Kate’ and ‘Dear Painter Paint Me.’ He is a skilled artist who is essentially capable of developing any type of techno or house music.

In the year 2013, Heartthrob launched his label known as ISNISNT, a label that is committed to producing leftfield sounds. He has worked for famous labels such as Mute, Bpitch, and Hot Creations over the years. As of now, Heartthrob has released four albums via ISNISNT, and collaborated with Red Rack’em and Justin Cudmore for ISNISNT.  The fourth release ‘Intersection’ is a melodic release that is rooted in early 90s Detroit and Midwest techno.

While he lived in New York City, Heartthrob was one of the main characters behind the development of the minimal techno scene in the city and the wider globe as a result. Currently residing in Berlin, he is working on his fifth release for his label and is touring Europe. He has participated in numerous groundbreaking projects across the world that have featured some cutting-edge technology from behemoths such as Burn Studios, Ableton, and Livid.

“Crystal is Justin’s debut record on Honey Soundsystem. The title track is a perfect example of Justin’s penchant for classic midwest flavoured acid. It’s perfectly balanced both production wise and groove wise. Its simplicity is deceptive as often is the case with really good house and techno. Its not easy to let things fall together like this… Justin and I are both from the Midwest and grew up listening to this kind of sound from Chicago, Minneapolis and Detroit from the 90’s Justin is also a fantastic DJ and the arrangement here is a good indication of his sensibilities.”

“Danny Berman’s productions are rich, complex affairs with tons of crisp details and surreal funky moments that I find refreshing. They incorporate a clever mixture of electronic sounds found in classic Detroit house, funk and jazz either as samples or his own instruments. Personality oozes from them. His talent is mind boggling. They can be at once sad, funny and always funky. I envy his focus he recently reactivated his label Bergerac and released a terrific now album.”

“This tune finds Justin in remixer mode along with our mutual friend Mike Servito, who introduced us a few years back. The duo have had a successful run in the studio recently. Here the duo maintain a steady jacking intensity with analog synths and 16th note hats. It’s dance floor destruction. I can’t wait to hear more from this duo cuz I know it will be dance floor magic.”

“Square Mode’s “The Wheel” is an excellent example of Danny delivering an excellent remix treatment. Things bump and the baseline bounces in its own time signature that somehow works so well. His fusion of styles is a lot of fun and here really effective on the floor.”
