Born in Santander and having released music for over a decade, Pablo Bolivar has become something of a legend. His sophomore album and probably most recognised work, Recall, contains some of the finest dub techno I’ve heard to date (including a personal favourite, ‘Reflect’). Taking influence from the quality German imprint Chain Reaction and inspired by the death of his father, it was destined to be of the highest quality and, consequently, critically acclaimed.
Pablo Bolivar’s style has morphed over the years, and it now resides further into the deep, melodic realm of techno. What has never changed, however, is the undeniable quality of his production. Having studied sound engineering at Barcelona’s Crash Institute until graduation in 1998, and following this up working for a number of years as an engineer, his work as a producer breathes cohesiveness and refinement.
After over a decade, Pablo Bolivar shows no signs of slowing. He has just recently released his Space & Form EP for Moodmusic, and following this he has two EPs lined up for summer – Back Door on Peppermint Jam and All Clear on Culprit LA. Not only is his output high (he’s probably released the most albums for a house/techno artist I’ve ever seen) but his touring schedule has remained consistently packed over the years. You can check out all his summer gig dates above via RA or here.
With the sunshine sets imminent, we invite Pablo Bolivar in to share his “favourite fresh summer tracks”. Enjoy the selection below, and make sure you catch him this summer.
