London producer and DJ Ossie Aneke found his voice in the UK’s post-dubstep landscape. His first few releases saw him hook up with Kode 9’s Hyperdub for a couple of expansive broken beat-influenced EPs, whilst in-between dropping the Detroit techno meets UK funky brilliance of Tarantula on Lightworks. Slowly through the years, he’s shown a housier side with releases on 2020 Vision, Wolf Music, MTA and his own label SuperCali. At the beginning of this month, the Londoner also made his Exploited debut. A two-tracker, rich with summery pads, claps and delicate synths.
Now, with the launch of his own label SuperCali, Ossie has a focused outlet to release his sounds. Alongside this solo alias, he also formed the collective Black Orange Juice in 2012. Teaming up with Paul Black and Tilz, they released three EPs through Somethink Sounds, and a collaborative EP with Ben Pearce, seeing Ossie return to MTA records. Throughout his career, his works have been championed by the likes of Benji B, Gilles Peterson, Annie Mac, Mistajam and Toddla T.
Ossie’s second home is within the club. Over the years we’ve seen him perform at Lovebox, XOYO, Sonar and Boiler Room, spinning his favourite records to thousands of music lovers. As a celebration of his recent release, he’s provided us with an online snapshot of the tunes he loves to play live in a club setting.
