This popular and talented duo need no introduction. Mak & Pasteman broke out in the Leeds music scene after making their first records in 2011. Since, they have been an integral part of UK underground electronic music, consistently producing dance music hits over the last six years. Their tracks draw upon their collective musical influences, resulting in a highly sought after mixture of house and techno sounds with a distinct UK flavour. They have released on various labels, such as Lobster Boy, Digital Soundboy, Naked Naked and DJ Haus’ Unknown to the Unknown. Recently, they have released on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, collaborating with DJ Haus (listen to the track here, picked by Rubadub). Forthcoming, they have another track teaming up with DJ Haus on Chiwax. Their DABJ release is hard-hitting with notes of acid, and the Chiwax release features three catchy, bass-driven, tracks that are sure to get dancefloors thumping in the coming months.
The duo also has new music coming on their own Materials imprint, with tracks that delve deeper in analogue synthesis and texture, continuing their signature raw sound. Aside from producing a constant stream of killer records, Mak & Pasteman also host a monthly radio show on Rinse FM. Their show features a wide variety of guests, and showcases forthcoming label material as well as their wide musical repertoire. In addition to this, they also have a new Dance Trax residency at Shoreditch Platform that is about to begin. The dates of this exciting series are May 12th, June 9th, July 7th and August 4th. They will be playing a diverse array of music, including rare soul, obscure techno, jungle, and the sounds of Chicago & Detroit. Make sure you head down and catch them for some summer night skanking – advance tickets are available to buy now from just £5.
Their four-track selection below is inspired by tracks they have played in their residencies over the years.
