The house and techno starlet Laura Jones most probably strode into your life in 2011 with ‘Love In Me’, a summer anthem that filled her diary for the year almost overnight. Laura’s story didn’t start there however, it began in the early 2000s with an obsession for vinyl and frequent trips to Ibiza, particularly for the sounds of Circoloco at DC10. After hitting the scene with storm, she was taken under the wing of her favourite aforementioned night as well as UK’s infamous fabric. Also becoming the first female resident at one of the world’s longest running nights, Back To Basics, in her hometown of Leeds, she continued to push herself to new heights. Since, her trademark orange sunglasses and infectious love for music have been seen by crowds around the world.
After releasing a host of projects through Vision Quest, Crosstown Rebels and Leftroom up until 2014, she took a break from production to experiment with her sound. It was only this year when she returned, launching her new label Sensoramic in May with SAM and Karousel cutting the opening tape in appropriate style. Laura then showcased her new style of infectious beats and epic chords with the second release on the imprint The Why Question. The work was also remixed by one of our favourites, Trevino. Just last week she also returned to Constant Sound for a split piece alongside unsung Scottish techno hero Stephen Brown, with a remix on the flip by Endian.
As New Year’s Eve looms, Laura Jones has selected some of her favourite peak time tracks. With a touring history as expansive as hers, these four will take any party to the next level.
