Part of the #savefabric takeover
Daniel Avery has been at the forefront of the techno scene, with high quality releases on Erol Alkan’s imprint Phantasy Sound. His mesmerising take on techno pushes euphoric lead lines, thudding kick drums and atmosphere-inducing percussion and has proved to be incredibly sought after, with a long back catalogue of original material as well as a number of high profile remixes. The year 2013 saw Avery tour the world with his debut album Drone Logic, which received critical acclaim from publications, fans and DJs alike. The album was then remixed by the likes of Conforce, Powell, Ø [Phase], Rodhad, Silent Servant and Volte-Face, who he is also part of Rote with. This project with the BleeD founder lets him explore other aspects of techno and show his versatility as a producer, whilst his b2b performances show the same versatility as a DJ. This year’s Dekmantel set with Roman Flugel, another remixer on the album, was testament to this.
Having also been a frequent selector at fabric, Daniel Avery will have more memories than most of us at the venue. Becoming a valued addition to the club’s forward-thinking lineups, Avery was asked to contribute to the almighty fabriclive series in 2012. He delivered an incredible mix of atmospheric techno and worldly house that, to this day, is still one of our favourites of the series.
Further showcasing his skill as a selector and, once again, showing his support for fabric, he’s selected four tracks that highlight some of his favourite times at the club. This selection show maturity that only comes from a lengthy history of shows, nights out and raves within this prestigious space. Featuring Factory Floor, Function, Acronym and a remix of Massimiliano Pogliara, you can easily envisage the swirling lights and underfloor bass pumping through the club to anyone of these tracks. Let’s hope the world hasn’t experienced the truly epic atmosphere of that place for the last time. For now, turn up the volume and donate what you can to the cause.
Daniel Avery will release his new album, Song For Alpha, on 6th April via Phantasy Sound imprint. Listen to ‘Slow Fade‘ now.
