The Edinburgh-born and based producer’s allegiance with the Moda Black camp came after he had the opportunity to play alongside them at one of their parties at Fly Club, where he had held a residency for some time. After handing them a CD with tracks he’d been working, they got in touch to release his first EP, Waiting Game, in 2014. In the same year he jumped on remix duties for the dance music duo Groove Armada. The preceding years saw him continue releasing on Moda, as well as Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint and, most recently, Anjunadeep. As with most artists, producing is only one side of the story. Starting out as a DJ, his talent also lies behind the decks, having previously spun records at Sub Club and Fabric, as well as contributed guest mixes to the likes of Shadow Child’s Rinse FM show and the We Are FSTVL podcast.

The tale end of this year see’s Kottis play at a number of exciting events, from The Warehouse Project to FLY’s Open Air Festival in Edinburgh as well as releasing his fourth EP on Moda Black, a two track excursion that has already had support from Ame, Gardens of God, Steve Lawler, Pete Tong and . Ahead of the release, we wanted to find out a little more about the rising artist, so we invited him in to pick out four dance floor favourites.

Theo Kottis plays fabric’s Forms on Friday 09 March where we’ll be providing earplugs with our All Ears campaign. Get yours here.

“Finally, this track got released this September! I love the vocal and the tribal drums. John sent me this in January to feature in my BBC Radio 1 After Hours mix and I’ve been playing it since.”

“I first heard this track in August 2015 when I was partying at Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream party in London. It’s been a huge track in my sets, particularly when I played it at XOYO in London alongside Patrice Baumel.”

“This track will be in most DJ’s collection. Instant dance floor filler. It samples Brainstorm’s ‘Lovin’ Is Really My Game’. I played this at Lost Village festival, probably my favourite set of 2016 so far!”
