The rise of Bicep via humble beginnings through their Feel My Bicep blog is well known and has been retold countless times, but FMB affiliate Hammer has stayed further under the radar. As a long term blog partner he has also played an influential part in the imprint’s meteoric rise.

It’s only relatively recently that Hammer has started to make a name for himself, with his first foray into productions being collaborations with Bicep on releases such as Dahlia and their most recent tune on the AUS100 release, ‘Aricari’. At the same time, Hammer has started DJing more frequently, having been on the bill for Feel My Bicep nights in the past. With a recent debut on Boiler Room, being a resident DJ at Sub Club, and of course featuring at Feel My Bicep’s Warehouse Project night, his career is certainly on the up. With this in mind, he’s kindly chosen four tracks from 2016 that he’s been loving as part of our Warehouse Project takeover.

Catch him at WHP on 10th December, on a mouth-wateringly good lineup that also includes the likes of Jeff Mills, Rodhad, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Bicep and many more.

“I’ve been heavily into this kind of sound recently, and this is a combination of a lot things I love; with plenty of tropical/afro/bluesy vibes. DJ Deep & Romain Poncet really nail it here with one of the best breakdowns about. Can’t stop playing this.”

“Standard Bicep quality on their recent remix of the legendary 808 State, which is no mean feat. Floaty vocals and tension all the way past the three minute mark, where all the madness drops away into an absolute bass driven beast; always good for the floor.”

“Sublime late night vibes here. You really can’t beat dark, arp driven music, especially when its ten minutes long. Marvin & Guy’s production values are right up there, making great music across the spectrum. Barry Price, co-owner of Sub Club kindly put me on to this, a fellow ‘anything 80s’ fan, cheers Baz.”
