Steven Be Calm has made a big impression in 2016 with three solid releases under his belt. He’s released twice on Shall Not Fade — once a split EP with his alias Stephane 1933, and once contributing a track to a VA release — the label that’s really championing the lo-fi movement at the moment, and hence a logical home for his dubbed out, melodic, tape hiss drenched productions that feel like a trip down memory lane to forgotten summers and faces you can’t quite remember. In addition to this, he’s had a release on DJ Haus’ HOTHAUS imprint, showcasing a more upbeat, dancefloor oriented side to his work.

We’re lucky enough to have Steven select our Tracks Of The Day today, choosing the theme of “Four tracks that never leave my record bag”, so check out his picks below for a range of the tracks he’s rinsing in the clubs, there are some great records from labels such as All Caps, Porridge Bullet, Uncanny Valley and Unknown To The Unknown.

“I purchased this record recently without knowing too much about it. I just heard the previews on Phonica and thought “Yeah this is real nice” so I bought it. It is now one of my favourite acquisitions to date. The A1 is the best track on the record in my opinion.”
