Kieron Ifill hasn’t made any music under his main moniker, K15, since we last spoke to him in our Dimensions interview. However, this doesn’t mean he hasn’t kept himself busy. In December 2015, he released a collaborative EP under Wu15 with a good friend and colleague Henry Wu, which has just been repressed on Thursday last week! Following this, in February Kieron suddenly revealed a whole new LP under the alias Culross Close. This stunning LP out on the Japanese Sound Of Speed is certainly his most jazzy and experimental work to date.

With his work seeming to take on some new directions, we wanted to find out what has been influencing Kieron recently. His selection presents an expectedly varies taste, ranging from fresh grime by Kano to 1970s Chicago Soul. Listen and read about his choices below.

“I’ve had the entire ‘Made In The Manor’ album on repeat for the last three weeks and it’s incredible. Seminal. I heard this track the week before the album came out and I’ve listened to it daily since. The beat is fierce and melancholic but the honesty he exudes is phenomenal.”

“I remember hearing this song when I was younger during a scene in the film ‘Boyz N The Hood’ and it hit me hard. It’s prophetic and reassuring, the type of song I listen to when I’m on the train to work or when I’m struggling with life. It’s warm. It’s necessary.”

“Hearing Canadian Tre Mission say “moving bait” is probably my favourite line in this track. Splurt Diablo provides a sinister beat for Cadell, Merky and Tre.”
