TOTD // 07/04 // Resom

A booking agent, political activist, gender equality campaigner and ://aboutblank resident DJ – Resom is one highly respectable lady. Her dedication and passion to both the electronic music scene and people in general is as fascinating as it is honourable. Growing up in Thuringia in East Germany, she then moved to Leipzig to study and ended up living there for fifteen years. Now, residing in Berlin, she has since focused on DJing under the name Resom, growing her personal brand and expanding her audience.

An avid collector of vinyl, the depth of her musical knowledge and DJing skills are showcased through a collection of mixes for the likes of The Bunker NY and Hessle Audio, as well as live performances from Nachtville, SNTWN, Free Rotation and many more. Our favourite mix of hers though has to be for Berceuse Heroique, blending atmospheric sounds, hypnotic techno and organic textures in a piece just over an hour. We recommend this to be your next stop, after her Tracks Of The Day, exploring her style and finding a bit more about her artistry.

Although I could quite happily write pages on this talent’s life works and accomplishments, we must move on to her picks. Spanning decades, she chooses four of her favourite “after hours” tracks. To stay up to date with all her doings, follow her on Facebook.

“Don’t DJ‘s sound really refreshes my ears. I received his EP on Berceuse Heroique a while ago and loved it from the first moment. I told him about that and since that we talk sometimes in a refreshing philosophical way of communication. What I especially like on this track are the birds sounds in the back.”

“This track was played last week by Hops at Hard Wax when I was there to get some new music. He played it on the shops speakers and I asked what it was, since it sounded super familiar but fresh aswell. He said that it his private record and showed me the record. I was shocked that it was Newcleus – Jam on it, since I do have the 7″ – but I never heard this version. So wikki – wikked.”

“I normally start my day with the Do You!! Show on NTS. Thursdays are the best and I need hours to leave the house since I can’t miss out any track. Today’s show was superb again and Mr. bones played this track as the last one. The track is so simple and so complex at the same time. The lyrics speak for themselves, but also the background sounds are so eclectic and wild. I like that a lot.”

“This is one of my absolute absolute top electro favourites. I still remember when I bought the Rephlex compilation and when listened to this track for the very first time. It’s very difficult to mix, since the melody is quite unique and very dominant, but it combines for me my own (white middleclass) melancholy and the retro 80s Giorgio Moroder glamour I got lost in a long time ago. Also, it’s a track which was played by Skanfrom last Friday at OHM and he killed me with it completely. Shouts out!”
